Reliance Industries Limited is an Indian multinational conglomerate owned by Mukesh Dhirubhai Ambani, an Indian billionaire, businessman and the richest person in Asia. The Mukesh Ambani’s company is planning on building the biggest AI data centre in Jamnagar, India.
The AI data centre is said to have a three gigawatts capacity so as to capitalize on fast rising AI demands. This data centre is aimed to be the biggest AI data centre in the world.
The proposed Reliance’s AI data facility is going to be significantly larger than the world’s current largest data centre, which is Microsoft’s 600-megawatt site located in Virginia. United State.
According to Bloomberg, the building of the largest AI data centre in India could cost between the range of $20 billions and $30 billions.
Reliance is India most valuable company. So, to fund the project shouldn’t be a problem. In 2022, the company raised $25 billions to fund the growth of its retail and telecom venture—which is now India dominant.
It’s no longer a surprise that investors, companies and co are investing a huge billion dollars into AI research and projects. The Reliance’s proposed AI project comes after OpenAI, SoftBank and Oracle announced $500 billion for another AI project in the U.S through their Stargate Project.
For Reliance, the company is said to power the Jamnagar’s facility primarily using renewable energy sources. These renewable energy sources—solar, wind, and hydrogen power—will be generated at a nearby green energy complex built specifically for the project.
Furthermore, Reliance is purchasing chips Nvidia to build the artificial intelligence (AI) data centre. Both companies have also announced a strategic partnership to build infrastructure for AI applications in India in October.
